A Team of Hero Entrepreneurs - Mission

This article is about the idea of building a network of companies that can change our current system to one that focuses more on our needs.

When I was young, I was searching for the modern version of the hero I knew from many stories from my childhood. The dream of being a princess or a prince. Don't we all have this dream? Are we not all influenced and want to become the queen or the king of the day of our time? Who is it for you? When I was small, my mom used to tell me stories, some German fairytales, and in these stories, there were heroes who had some kind of advantage and used it to save the day. Now, maybe deeply ingrained in my wishes, maybe I just want to be this hero – an entrepreneur who builds a better world, fighting the side effects of a giant system.

The idea was born to build a corporate network – a team of hero entrepreneurs – that consists of many different companies, but all of which share and spread the same mission for a better world. The network would act as a platform representing certain values and thus lead to a value change in the business world and society. As our economy-driven system is made by the people, we need a new perspective, something that can better serve our needs and interests.

I think we need more cooperation, putting people, the environment, and meaningfulness first. There is a sweet spot between cooperation and competition, and I believe our current system is focusing too narrowly on competition, while we humans are social beings, made for altruistic behavior. Hence, we work in companies and environments that are not in harmony with our needs for work and life. If we change this, I think we can enable people to follow a more meaningful life.

There have always been positions in societies in which people could influence the socioeconomic fabric more than from other parts. Historically, kings and queens, as well as religions, have had a huge impact on our societies. In the past two centuries, differently organized nation-states have had an enormous influence on the course of history. Today politics is still important at the state level, but there are other actors in the system who exert a tremendous influence worldwide.

In our globalized economic system, companies are among the strongest entities to create positive change. Businesses in themselves are not bad, but it is the incentives that, unfortunately, lead to negative outcomes or side effects for our environment and people.

There are many ways in which change can be implemented to impact society's living standards and to create a sustainable world. I believe businesses can be one of the best tools to improve our world because they have a significant role in our socio-economic system.

Another idea that seems very unrealistic, but as a thought experiment, perhaps well illustrates what I would like to do: If we imagine a huge spaceship with a human population that has the goal to travel for hundreds of generations through space, we would need to create a sustainable society that can live peacefully. To achieve this, we would need to be aware of how to engineer and design a sustainable and just society that could work well for a long time. We would need to find solutions to human nature's challenges to enable them to live at their best. This question, how could a system be designed to support us, to live at our best, to make decisions that are good for us and our surroundings, is a question I am searching for.
